Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is to be removed from app stores this Sunday, May 18, a little over a year after it launched.
Activision says that effective immediately, players can no longer buy in-game currency, and no further updates or content will be added for existing players.
Players with the game installed already will still be able to play Warzone Mobile online and continue their progression, which can be synced with the console and PC versions. Social features will be retired, though.
“This decision was made after careful consideration and while we’re proud of the accomplishment in bringing Call of Duty: Warzone to mobile in an authentic way, it unfortunately has not met our expectations with mobile-first players like it has with PC and console audiences,” says Activision’s explainer FAQ.

In a post on X, Activision also encouraged players to move over to the game’s predecessor, Call of Duty: Mobile, which has proven to be much more successful: “We have special incentives for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile players in Call of Duty: Mobile and encourage our players to try it for free,” Activision said.
Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile struggled to make an impact at launch, as we noted back in April 2024, especially when compared to the huge success of its predecessor, Call of Duty: Mobile.
Activision had billed Warzone Mobile as the more technologically advanced title, and its built in cross-progression and content parity with the PC and console games suggested it was designed to eventually supersede Call of Duty: Mobile.
