April’s top mobile game downloads

Here are the top mobile game downloads from last month, according to Appmagic data.

Appmagic’s estimates do not include numbers from China’s fractured Android market. There’s also commentary on April’s most notable trends from the top 20 and beyond below.

In between these monthly updates, you can also keep tabs on Appmagic’s top grossing and top downloads charts here.

It’s worth noting – once again – the huge lead Block Blast has over the second-placed game Roblox.

In another record high for monthly downloads, in April Hungry Studio’s block puzzler registered over twice the downloads of its nearest competitor for the third month running, with total lifetime downloads now at over 522m since it first launched in March 2022.

Both Roblox and Subway Surfers posted pretty typical numbers for April, while Ludo King’s resurgence following a few softer months pushed it back into the top five.

Often these ‘No Wifi’ games tend to drop off quite quickly after entering the charts, but Qy Studios’ version of the formula, subtitled ‘Antistress Relax Toys’ for extra ASO points, has now posted about 10m downloads for two consecutive months and might stick around longer.

Other top 10 regulars Pizza Ready and Free Fire each posted a slight month-on-month drop for April, but ABI Games has a new hit in Cookingdom in eighth spot. The cosy capybara-based cooking game started gaining traction at the end of March, and debuts in April’s top ten with over 10m installs.

Another couple of regulars, My Talking Tom 2 and Free Fire Max, returned to the top ten with a decent month-on-month rise in downloads.

April’s top mobile game downloads: 11-20

11. Hole.io (Voodoo): 9.5m
12. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (Moonton): 9.1m
13. 8 Ball Pool (Miniclip): 9.06m
14. Snake Clash! (Supercent): 8.9m
15. Brainy Prankster (TheSunStudio): 8.7m
16. Candy Crush Saga (King): 8.6m
17. Cricket League (Miniclip): 8.2m
18. EA Sports FC Mobile (EA): 8.15m
19. Royal Match (Dream Games): 8.1m
20. PUBG Mobile (Tencent): 8m

Four games saw big month-on-month download boosts in April: Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (up 15 spots), Brainy Prankster (up 18), Cricket League (up 30) and Royal Match (up 20).

Going the other way for April were PUBG Mobile (down nine spots), Color Block Jam (down 12 places to 27th) and FPS Strike Ops (down 21 spots to 33rd place). Also interesting to note the sudden drop for SayGames’ My Perfect Hotel, down a whopping 43 places month-on-month to 66th with 5.8m installs.

This month’s baffling Android-only meme game, M4P Media’s Meme Bots Tralalero Chase Room, enters the chart in 28th spot with 7.2m downloads, fractionally ahead of fellow debutant Garena Delta Force in 29th spot.

But what about Dream Games’ Royal Kingdom? Even after what is believed to be the biggest celebrity mobile game ad campaign ever, it is still just outside the top 100 downloads at 109. Its estimated 4.47m installs in April is over twice the 1.9m it posted in March, but perhaps still not quite enough to justify the expense of getting LeBron James to publicise your game.

As noted above, its predecessor Royal Match saw a nice month-on-month rise in downloads too, up from ~7m in March to ~8m in April.
