EA FC Mobile posts record Q1 bookings

EA FC Mobile posted “record Q1 net bookings” in the publishing giant’s Q125 results yesterday. EA also saw “double digit growth in spender acquisition” in the game, thanks to “gameplay improvements and real-life events” (the Euros and Copa America).
EA also said that FC Mobile is the “blueprint” for its mobile strategy, which is based on “leveraging the expanded access points offered via the mobile platform to continue to grow our largest franchises.”
Having posted $314m in net bookings for Q123, $303m in Q124 and $290m in Q125, that’s the third straight YoY decline for EA’s mobile division.
It also broke down its net bookings by platform, with mobile the least lucractive of the three segments. It earned $290m from mobile in the quarter ended June 30 2024, with ‘PC and other’ at $295m and console on $677m.
Monopoly Go beat Genshin Impact and Monster Strike to $3bn
Following on from Hasbro’s announcement that Monopoly Go had passed $3bn since launch, data firm Sensor Tower has stated that it is also the fastest mobile game to hit this milestone.
Monopoly Go managed this feat in 473 days, quicker than the next two fastest games to hit $3bn, Genshin Impact and Monster Strike.
Squad Busters has made over $50m to date

Supercell’s Squad Busters has made over $50m in gross revenue in the two months since its launch, according to Pocketgamer.biz citing Appmagic estimates. Since its release the title has made $50.2m, though this does include the $2.2m it brought in during soft launch.
DnF Mobile leads Appfigures’ June’s top earners chart

Dungeon And Fighter Mobile was the biggest earner in the mobile games space in June. AppFigures estimates that the title brought in $133m in net revenue from China’s App Store alone.
Monopoly Go was in second place with $114m in net revenue; despite making a massive amount of money, this is in fact the lowest amount Scopely’s smash hit has made since February.

Appfigures also reports that the net revenue of the top ten earners rose by a massive 47% year-on-year, bringing in $830m for June 2024.

June’s Appfigures data also estimates that Sybo’s Subway Surfers was once again the most downloaded mobile title during June. The endless runner was installed 22m times for the month, says the firm, with 19m of those downloads from Google Play, topping the charts on that platform.
Over on iOS, Roblox was the top dog with 4m downloads, with Block Blast in second, also on around 4m installs.
Zenless Zone Zero events quadruple revenue

Appfigures reports that Zenless Zone’s Zero’s first round of in-game events helped increase net revenue by four times. Prior to the live ops, the title was making around $1.4m per day, but rocketed up to $5.7m once they began.
The company also notes that ZZZ generated $6.4m in consumer spending on its first day in the wild – more than fellow Hoyoverse titles Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.
Solo Leveling Arise hits $100m

Hack and slash Solo Leveling: Arise has made $100m since its release back in May. That’s according to Sensor Tower, which also reports that 33% of the game’s revenue was generated by publisher NetMarble’s native South Korea. 19% came from the US, too.
Supercent passes 500m downloads

AR title Monster Hunter Now has been downloaded over 15m times since its release back in September 2023. That’s according to publisher Capcom’s financials for the three months ending June 30 – as reported by Gamesindustry.biz – in which the company noted that the game has “continued to gain popularity” among its users.
India is No.1 market for mobile game downloads

Indian mobile gamers downloaded the most titles in the first half of 2024. According to research from Apptica, India was behind 4.68bn installs, coming ahead of Brazil’s 3.2bn and the USA’s 2.66bn.

When it comes to revenue, however, India wasn’t even in the Top 15; the top spot went to the US, which boasted around $6.5bn in consumer spending. China came in second with $3.74bn – a 6% decline year-on-year – and Japan’s $3.6bn (a 3.5% decline).

Looking at genres, casual was the biggest performer for downloads on both iOS and Android; though the latter boasts nearly 13bn downloads compared to iOS’ 2.1bn.

Revenue tells a very different story; on iOS, core was the biggest earner with $11.1bn – a slight decrease – Android brought in $5.5bn, relatively flat compared to H2 2023.
