Data digest: Jam City fined $1.6m, November’s top games, Little Farm Story, Budge’s 2bn installs, more

Jam City hit with $1.6m privacy fine

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery and Disney Emoji Blitz maker Jam City has been fined $1.6m for violating a US privacy law.

The settlement was announced by California Attorney General Rob Bonta and states that Jam City failed to offer an option to opt out of sharing personal player data in its games.

On top of the $1.6m settlement, Jam City must now offer personal data opt-out screens and opt-in screens for players between 13 and 16. It is also prohibited from selling the data of players under 13.

LastWar and Block Blast top November’s Sensor Tower charts

Global consumer spending on mobile games across the App Store and Google Play reached $6.68bn in November, according to Sensor Tower. That’s down 2.8% month-over-month. The US led on spend with 32.3% of total revenue, followed by China (iOS only) at 14.4% and Japan at 12.4%.

LastWar led the revenue charts, powered by “a steady cadence of competitive, progression-focused live ops,” said Sensor Tower. Thanksgiving-themed live ops also drove Whiteout Survival, Monopoly Go, Kingshot and Gossip Harbor up the rankings.

The data firm also noted the month-on-month revenue growth of Maple Story, Honkai: Star Rail, Pokémon Go and Umamusume Pretty Derby in November, thanks to a busier schedule of live ops and events.

Global mobile game downloads reached 3.62bn in November, down 4.1% month-over-month, added Sensor Tower. India led with 594m downloads (16.4%), followed by the United States (7.9%) and Brazil (6.5%).

The top three most-downloaded games were static month-on-month with Block Blast, Roblox and Free Fire on the podium. November’s fastest growers included Solitaire Associations Journey, I Am Monkey, Jigsolitaire, Imposter Game and Rush: Xtreme. Sensor Tower also noted that new Sega title Sonic Rumble also did well in Brazil, Turkey, Egypt, Indonesia and the US.

Hybridcasual game Little Farm Story hit record $1.2m in October 

Little Farm Story: Idle Tycoon generated record monthly revenue of $1.2m in October, Appmagic reports.

SayGames’ farming title, which launched globally in December 2024, also saw installs triple month over month, from 919k in September to approximately 2.8m in October.

The most common purchases are to remove ads and to buy in-game currency, but offers which temporarily speed up progress account for the biggest share of the title’s revenue.

Normally priced below $3, the majority of these IAPs were introduced at the end of last year, which is when the game started to scale rapidly.

Budge Studios tops 2bn downloads

Budge Studios’ portfolio of kids’ mobile games has surpassed 2bn downloads, according to the company.

Founded in 2010, Montreal, Canada-based Budge specialises in collaborations with leading kids’ entertainment brands including Bluey, Paw Patrol, Barbie, Frozen, Hot Wheels, Hello Kitty, My Little Pony, and Crayola.

Over the past 15 years, Budge says its games have been played in over 200 countries and translated into dozens of languages.

Rush Royale hits $470m on its fifth birthday

My.Games says its tower defence and card collection game Rush Royale has surpassed 100m downloads and generated $470m in lifetime revenue.

Announced to coincide with the game’s fifth anniversary, the figures are up from 90m downloads and $370m in revenue reported in December 2024.

Huuuge hits 35% DTC revenue share

Social casino game publisher Huuuge says it’s now making over a third of its revenue from DTC channels. The company says its web store revenue has more than tripled since last year, when it partnered with Appcharge.

Its DTC revenue as a percentage of total revenue grew from 10% in Q1 2024 to 30% in Q2 2025, and is now driving 35% of its total revenue.

Brain Test drives Unico to 1.6bn downloads

Puzzle and casual games specialist Unico Studio says it has surpassed 1.6bn downloads – more than triple the 500m it reported back in April 2022.

Its flagship franchise Brain Test has topped 750m downloads, says the firm, which was founded in 2018. Its portfolio of simple puzzle, word and hybridcasual titles also includes Word Tangle, Farm Block Escape and Bus Craze.

Asia & MENA to generate $89bn in 2025

Revenue generated from game software and services in the Asia and MENA game markets is expected to reach $89bn this year. That’s according to updated guidance from Niko Partners, which previously forecast $87.9bn in revenue for 2025.

Niko has also raised its Asia and MENA game markets revenue forecast for 2029, from $96bn to $99.6bn. These markets generated $86.6bn in 2024.

Breaking down this year’s $89bn revenue forecast, China is expected to account for 57.5% of the total, followed by East Asia (Japan and Korea) with 32.7%.

Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam) is forecast to have a 6.2% overall market share this year, ahead of MENA-3 (Egypt, Saudi Arabia and UAE) with 2.4% and India with 1.2%.

The number of players across Asia & MENA in 2025 is expected to grow by 2.7% YoY to reach 1.7bn.
