Scopely leads western publishers in Q1

Appmagic has published a list of the top performing Tier 1 publishers in western markets by IAP revenue in Q1 2025. It’s headed by Monopoly Go maker Scopely, which earned $391m and saw its titles downloaded 11m times.

Royal Match publisher Dream Games is at number two with $318m revenue, closely followed by Candy Crush maker King with $314m. Both companies racked up 8m game downloads during the quarter.

Disney Solitaire hits $630K IAP revenue in first week

SuperPlay’s Disney Solitaire is off to a strong start, racking up 1.3m downloads and generating $630K of gross revenue (before store fees) in its first week, according to Appfigures estimates. That’s $0.48 per download from in-app purchases, which is significantly higher than a number of its competitors managed at launch.

In comparison, PeopleFun’s Wordscapes Solitaire saw first week downloads of 117k and $16k of player spending (~$0.13/download) when it launched last August. And Candy Crush Solitaire, which came out this February, achieved 1.6m downloads and $120K of net revenue ($0.075/download) in week one.

Color Block Jam tops hybridcasual earnings in Q1 with $25m

Appmagic has revealed the highest earning hybridcasual games by IAP revenue in Q1 2025. Leading the way is Rollic’s Color Block Jam, which saw revenue jump from $175k in Q4 2024 to $25.5m off the back of 18.9m downloads, driven by high-budget UA campaigns and viral gameplay clips on social media.

Its closest competitor was Homa’s All in Hole, which generated $18m and was downloaded 4.6m times, while Madbox’s Pocket Champs: 3D Racing Games earned $10.1m and reached 5.5m downloads.

The top 10 hybridcasual games brought in $87m in total IAP revenue in Q1, which was up 67% year-over-year. Puzzle games generated 48% of the total, followed by arcade titles at 45%.

71% of puzzle game revenue during the quarter came from the block puzzle subgenre. Screw puzzle titles generated 20% and sort puzzle games contributed 9%.

MTG revenues up 77% following Plarium buy

MTG’s $620m acquisition of Raid: Shadow Legend maker Plarium saw the Swedish roll-up group’s Q1 net sales increase by 77% year-over-year to SEK 2.56bn ($266.3m).

Adjusted EBITDA for the quarter was up 56% year-over-year to SEK 616m ($64.2m), and the company reported a net income of SEK 65m ($6.8m), compared to a loss of SEK 31m ($3.8m) a year earlier.

MTG previously said it expects the Plarium deal, which was completed in February, to double group revenue and adjusted EBITDA.

Stillfront’s games hit 47m MAU

Stillfront’s games portfolio, which includes franchises like Home Design, Big Farm, Supremacy and Empire, attracted almost 47m monthly active users last year, according to the firm’s recently published annual report.

In 2024, net revenue for the owner of Erepublik, Goodgame, Kixeye, Nanobit and more declined 3.5% year-over-year to SEK 6.74bn ($701m). Having recently split its operations into three business areas, the Swedish roll-up firm said 44% of its revenues come from its European arm, 28% from North America and 29% from MENA & APAC.

Hasbro made $39m from Monopoly Go in Q1

Monopoly Go continues to make Hasbro about $10m a month, with the company saying last week that the game contributed $39m of revenue in Q1 2025 – up slightly from $38m in Q4 2024.

Hasbro reported net revenue of $887m in Q1, which was up 17% year-over-year, driven by growth in Magic The Gathering and Monopoly Go. The mobile game accounted for approximately 4.4% of company-wide revenue.

“Our licensed digital gaming portfolio grew 56% in Q1 driven by Monopoly Go! lapping the minimum guarantee for the final quarter,” commented Hasbro CFO and COO Gina Goetter.

DC Dark Legion tops 5m downloads

DC Dark Legion has surpassed 5m downloads, FunPlus has announced. The licensed strategy game, which sees players collect and upgrade super heroes and villains for multiplayer PvP battles, hit the milestone in about a month and a half, having been released in mid-March for mobile and PC.

Nitro Games revenues down 9% in Q1 

Finnish developer and publisher Nitro Games has published its interim report for Q1 2025. The Autogun Heroes and Nerf: Superblast maker saw revenues decrease 9% year-over-year to €2.4m ($2.73m). EBITDA also fell by 31% year-over-year to €416k ($473k), while net profit was down 45% to €58.4k ($66.4k).

Flexion revenue up 9% in 2024

App store distributor and marketing firm Flexion has reported £76.5m ($102.4m) in revenue for the 12 months ended in December 2024, which is up 9% year-over-year. The firm’s gross profit rose by 27% to £14.8m ($19.8m) and adjusted EBITDA increased by 33% to £5m ($6.7m).
