Supercell has insisted it has no plans to close its latest global launch, mo.co – but it did confirm it is being revamped, and a new edition of the game is slated for the first quarter of 2026.
Players of the monster-hunting action-RPG have been voicing their concerns for the future of the title after Supercell announced it’ll be killing stablemate Squad Busters next year.
An X post doing the rounds in the mo.co community also suggests the game’s revenue was even lower than Squad Busters in October 2025, though it’s not clear where the estimates were sourced from.
Mo.co community manager João Freitas responded by posting an FAQ on X that denied the game is at risk of being killed. He did confirm that the game is currently being overhauled, however, though he denied this is a “hit-or-kill moment” for the game.
“It was simply a very needed revamp, as the current chapter system wasn’t working,” he said. “We’re hoping neo mo.co will deliver a better experience, but also just the baseline to keep improving and making it more and more enjoyable with further updates.”
Addressing those community concerns over the game’s revenue, Freitas added: “At the moment, we have 99 priorities. Revenue ain’t one. I understand the concern, but to reiterate once again: we’re keeping our player base small, collect[ing] player feedback, analys[ing] player behaviour with the game, and [will] improve based on that.”
“Once we’re confident, we’ll scale the game. So far we did close to zero effort into player acquisition. We ran a small campaign in the summer mostly to test things out and it produced great results! Right now, as we’re pivoting the game, we’ve paused our efforts. Low revenue is expected in the coming months.”
Freitas further reassured concerned players that Squad Busters’ cancellation has no bearing on mo.co’s development. “Every Supercell game is its own team, following its own path,” he continued. “Game A is not discontinued or launched globally because of what happened to Game B. No one is demanding us quick results. We’re not speed running success.”
He added that the current iteration of mo.co has “very encouraging metrics” and that its cosmetics-only monetisation model “is showing great results so far.” The revamp is taking place so that Supercell can “improve player retention” and “address core issues” with the game.
