The studio behind Mighty Doom, Alpha Dog, will close as part of sweeping Microsoft cuts announced today.
Development will cease on Mighty Doom and its servers will shut down on August 7, the studio said in a post on X. LinkedIn estimates suggest it housed 25-30 staff.
It was acquired by ZeniMax Media, Bethesda’s parent company, in October 2019, and became part of Xbox Game Studios after Microsoft completed the acquisition of ZeniMax for $7.5bn. The deal was announced in September 2020 and completed in March 2021.

The studio said on Bethesda’s support forums that it is “working to finalize details for the Mighty DOOM refund program,” and that more information will be shared soon.
Alpha Dog is based in Halifax, Canada, and had also previously developed mobile games including Wraithbrone and MonstroCity: Rampage.
According to Appmagic Mighty Doom made around $7.3m in IAP revenue since its launch in March 2023, with over 7.6m downloads to date.
