Miniclip has acquired Lessmore, maker of Eatventure and We Are Warriors

Miniclip has acquired the German hybridcasual studio Lessmore, maker of Eatventure and We Are Warriors, for an undisclosed amount.

The deal was quietly done at the end of 2024, we can reveal, and while the fee has not been disclosed, Miniclip CEO Saad Choudri confirmed the deal to us, saying:

“We are thrilled to welcome Lessmore to Miniclip. The founders and our teams at Miniclip clicked immediately and we have been incredibly impressed by the studio’s growth – it is a remarkable achievement especially as launching new games remains challenging.”

“We were particularly impressed with the team’s ability to quickly prototype innovative game concepts and release hit casual titles,” Choudri continued. “The team have done a fantastic job scaling Eatventures and We Are Warriors, titles that increase Miniclip’s presence further into new categories. We look forward to working with the team on expanding their portfolio and supporting them in their growth aspirations.”

From November 2024: ‘Miniclip acquires Easybrain from Embracer for $1.2bn’.

Lessmore cofounder Jeremy Ries added: “We have long admired Miniclip and are very excited to be working together. This marks an important new chapter in our journey which will allow us to leverage Miniclip’s extensive expertise and reach to continue to scale our games and provide ever more engaging and fun experiences to our players.”

Appmagic data suggests Eatventure is the studio’s flagship title, with 69.3m downloads and around $28m in IAP earned since launch in February 2022. We Are Warriors has claimed around 36.3m installs since it launched in September 2023, earning Lessmore a fraction under $10m to date. Pocket Chess is a much smaller title by IAP earnings, with around $440k earned since launch in March 2021 from 3.2m downloads.

It’s Miniclip’s latest acquisition after several previous high-profile deals. In June 2022, Miniclip announced the acquisition of Subway Surfers maker Sybo for an undisclosed fee. In November 2022, Sybo CEO Mathias Gredal Nørvig explained the thinking behind the deal, and that it had previously turned down acquisition offers practically every week for years.

From November: ‘Miniclip CEO Saad Choudri on running mobile’s ‘quiet giant’’.

In April 2024, Miniclip acquired PowerWash Simulator maker FuturLab, and in November of last year, spent $1.2bn buying up casual puzzle outfit Easybrain.

Later that same month, Miniclip boss Saad Choudri told us that the Tencent-owned firm had quietly bought up several other studios.

“We’ve been doing our work, just doing our thing and letting the audience tell us where we have done well and were we have failed,” Choudri told us.

“Of course, we are part of Tencent, but not having the pressure of the public quarterly announcements means that we can make long term decisions to ensure the best for our players and essentially let the games speak for themselves.”
