There’s another Monopoly game coming, and the studio behind it has just raised $4.7m to launch it.
Krakow, Poland-based Reality Games is making geolocation game Monopoly World, having previously found some success with similar titles Landlord and Landlord Go. Each of those previous games lean on branding reminiscent of Monopoly, and the former title, Landlord, describes itself as ‘real world Monopoly’ on its store page.
According to the firm’s LinkedIn post, the $4.7m raise was made up of angel investors including former Xbox exec Peter Moore, former Codemasters and Microsoft executive Nav Sunner, and several former Google execs. VC firms Unfold, Republic, and Acquinox Capital were also part of the round.

Monopoly World is currently in soft launch on iOS and Android in Malaysia, Poland and the Philippines. Reality Games said it will use the funding to expand the soft launch.
Reality Games employs around 60 people in Krakow, Poland, and also has representatives based in London. It launched its first game, Landlord Real Estate Tycoon, in 2015. It has also since built its own geolocation-based game engine in order to release Landlord and Landlord Go. The firm also licenses the engine to other companies.
