Savage Game Studios has hired former Wooga, Rovio and Voodoo exec Sophie Vo as general manager of its Berlin office.
PlayStation announced that it acquired Savage in August, and that the studio is “already working on a new unannounced AAA mobile live service action game”.
Vo has previously worked at Gameloft, Wooga and Rovio, and most recently set up Voodoo Berlin. She is also an investor in several studios including Talewind, Superbloom, FunCraft, Cypher and Frozen Monkey, and an advisor for Concept Ventures and Wings Interactive. Her podcast and newsletter Rise and Play explores game studio leadership, diversity and inclusion.
Savage Game Studios boss Michail Katkoff announced the move on his LinkedIn, saying: “The best part about my job is getting to welcome super talented people to Savage Game Studios. For the past month I had the privilege to work with Sophie Vo who joined us as a General Manager. People are what makes Savage special. And you’d be hard pressed to find a better culture builder than Sophie.”
Vo will now be working out of Savage’s Berlin office. She added, also on LinkedIn: “I took the summer off to reflect on what I wanted to do next, how I wanted to spend my time, and for which impact. The most important for me was to join a leadership team I was aligned with in terms of values and mission.”
“I feel passionate to create the future of a modern workplace where people feel fulfilled, whole, and inspired by their work and colleagues. I chose to join Savage Game Studios for those reasons.”
Savage is currently hiring for a number of roles as it looks to ramp up production within PlayStation Mobile, including a narrative designer, AI programmer, environment artist, UI/UX designers and QA staff.
