October’s top grossing mobile games

Here are last month’s top grossing mobile games based on in-app purchase earnings, according to Appmagic data.

These IAP estimates do not include ad revenue, web shop spend, Apple and Google’s 30% cut or revenue from China’s fragmented Android ecosystem.

There’s commentary on which way the biggest earners are trending, and other interesting tidbits from the top 20 and beyond below.

In between these monthly updates, you can also keep tabs on Appmagic’s top grossing and top downloads charts here.

Top trio Honor of Kings, Royal Match and LastWar remain static in the rankings month-on-month, with the top two up by IAP revenue and LastWar down a fraction on September’s performance.

Honor Of Kings’ dominance shouldn’t be a surprise at this point, and while Royal Match is unlikely to ever catch Tencent’s MOBA, it’s certainly worth pointing out that Dream Games’ puzzler posted all-time record earnings again in October, with $124m earned in IAP.

LastWar’s meteoric rise has been even faster than Royal Match’s. It posted $117m in IAP earnings for a second month running a little over a year after it launched – a huge achievement for FirstFun, which is now listed as Funfly on iOS, for some reason.

Like LastWar, Whiteout Survival’s revenue graph reads aggressively up and to the right, thought it has had longer to gain momentum, having launched in early 2023; October’s $111m in IAP earnings is yet another record month.

Roblox is up a little on September’s performance, but can’t beat Whiteout Survival’s continued growth. PUBG Mobile and Candy Crush Saga are also up a little month-on-month, while Monopoly Go drops again.

Scopely’s monster hit posted $82m in IAP earnings last month, its lowest total since July 2023. That’s not the full picture, though – Scopely also recently launched Monopoly Go’s Tycoon Club – its webshop, in other words – so it is very likely many big spending players are being moved over to that, which will dent IAP earnings.

DNF Mobile’s post-launch drop continues after a spectacular run over the summer, with October’s $58m in IAP earnings its lowest to date. Coin Master’s slight rise in earnings pushed Brawl Stars out of the top ten.

October’s top grossing mobile games: 11-20

11. Brawl Stars (Supercell): $50.4m
12. Gardenscapes (Playrix): $43.8m
13. Pokémon Go (Niantic): $42.4m
14. Monster Strike (Xflag): $39.3m
15. Genshin Impact (Hoyoverse): $39m
16. Township (Playrix): $35.7m
17. Honkai: Star Rail (Hoyoverse): $32.5m
18. Fishdom (Playrix): $30.4m
19. Homescapes (Playrix): $28.1m
20. TfT: Golden Spatula (Tencent): $27.2m

After spiking again in September thanks to a SpongeBob Squarepants collab, Brawl Stars earnings have dropped almost $14m month-on-month.

Playrix has four titles in this 11-20 bracket, with Gardenscapes IAP earnings up significantly month-on-month and Township, Fishdom and Homescapes posting slight rises.

Chart stalwart Monster Strike leapt up the charts in October, and Genshin Impact is up a little month-on-month but has fallen off pretty significantly in general throughout 2023 and 2024, barring a couple of big earnings spikes. It’s a similar story for Honkai: Star Rail, which has broadly been in decline since its last big spike in March 2024.

Outside the top 20, Puzzle & Dragons rose 39 spots to post over $25m in IAP earnings last month, and Konami’s eFootball quietly continues to do pretty well in 22nd spot with $24.7m earned in October.

Microfun’s Gossip Harbor appears to be scaling fast, rising eight spots into 29th place, and Hearthstone leapt a mighty 88 places month-on-month, posting a second best-ever month of earnings ($19.6m) thanks to Blizzard’s ongoing World of Warcraft 20th anniversary celebrations.
