Off The Record LA in pictures

Thanks to everyone who came along to Off The Record LA yesterday.

And special thanks also to our generous host Google, sponsors AppsFlyer, Media Bodies and Sensor Tower plus the Deconstructor of Fun crew, in particular Jen Donahoe.

The feedback has been excellent so far, and we’re back for more soon: there are more casual evening drinks coming at Develop in Brighton and at Gamescom in Cologne this summer.

We’re also bringing the more formal daytime format to Helsinki, Leamington Spa and London events in the Autumn, too. We might be able to squeeze a few more gatherings in before the end of the year as well, who knows.

What is Off The Record? It’s 100 smart, senior mobile games people in the same room talking about the state of the business. There’s no reporting from these events and we always promise to respect your time.

Who came yesterday? Senior folks from Google, Tencent, Epic Games, Supercell, Zynga, EA, Activision, Blizzard, Disney, Scopely, Jam City, Mattel, Magic Tavern, Riot, Agbo, Homa and plenty more.

Google hosted us at its Venice Beach space, The Doors  – named after the band – and we crammed around 130 people across the day, as some folks just came for the happy hour at the end.

First up, Sensor Tower’s Chirag Ambwani set the scene with some data on where the mobile market is currently.

Next, Media Bodies’ Sara Guerola Carbó laid out a playbook for marketers looking to get the most from their influencer marketing spend.

The third talk was from AppsFlyer’s Brian Murphy, who ran us through some of the latest trends in influencer marketing and UA.

After lunch, we split out into roundtables where smaller groups discussed AI, growth strategy, UA, alternative marketing channels, licensing, monetisation and how to get press.

Then it was onto the Sensor Tower Happy Hour, after which it was actually quite difficult to get people to leave. We’ll take that as a win.

Thanks again to host Google, sponsors AppsFlyer, Media Bodies and Sensor Tower plus the Deconstructor of Fun crew, in particular Jen Donahoe.

We’ll be doing this again soon. To keep up to date, sign up to the newsletter and follow us on LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Threads or Bluesky.
