Marvel Snap maker Second Dinner is bringing operational and publishing duties in-house with the help of California-based publisher Skystone Games.
The studio announced it was looking for a new publisher after the outage caused by the brief US TikTok ban recently. Marvel Snap was unexpectedly caught in the crossfire because it was published by Bytedance-owned Nuverse.
Marvel Snap has now returned to app stores and is back online after the outage, says Second Dinner. Earlier this week, we estimated the incident had cost developer Second Dinner at least $600k in lost IAP earnings alone.
“To ensure this never happens again, and with the help of our current publisher Nuverse (Thank you!), we’ve already signed agreements and started the work to bring almost all operational and publishing responsibilities in-house at Second Dinner with support from a new U.S.-based publisher, Skystone Games,” said Second Dinner on X.

“This has been a full-team effort between Second Dinner, Nuverse, Skystone and Marvel,” Second Dinner continued. “Thank you again for all of your support – we’re excited about what’s ahead for Marvel Snap!”
California-based firm Skystone was founded in 2020, and is led by CEO Bill Wang, an ex-Perfect World VP, and Diablo creator David Brevik. Wang has also previously held senior positions at Turbine, Giant Games and Double Damage, while Brevik is a veteran of Blizzard, Flagship, Turbine and Gazillion Entertainment.
Skystone’s previous releases are all Steam-based indie games, and include Undying, Hellcard, Tyrant’s Realm, Maniac, Spacelines from the Far Out, The Last Friend, Land Above Sea Below and Boundary.
