Singular takes shots at rival Adjust and its ‘undoing under AppLovin’

AppLovin and its subsidiary Adjust have come under fire from competitor Singular following mass layoffs at Adjust’s Berlin office.

Singular CEO Gadi Eliashiv came out swinging in a blog published yesterday which described what he sees as “Adjust’s undoing under AppLovin”. He notes that, as we reported on Monday, neither AppLovin or Adjust has publicly acknowledged the estimated 120 layoffs at the firm, and that “entire teams have been eliminated” at the company.

Eliashiv goes on to question Adjust’s credibility as an MMP, suggesting that with the apparent integration of its product, support, marketing and engineering teams into AppLovin, the firm is “breaking the promise of a “firewall” between ads and measurement”.

From Monday: ‘AppLovin-owned Adjust cuts an estimated 120 staff as it appoints new CEO‘.

“From our subjective point of view, Adjust has been slowly deteriorating since the [AppLovin] acquisition,” Eliashiv’s blog continues.

“The founders and many great employees have left. They lost some high-profile customers to us (or others), and today, many of their best people are working for other companies (including Singular). The hardworking and talented Adjust personnel, who are attribution experts, are being let go, which raises concerns over a lack of adequate support and innovation.”

Eliashiv appears to take further swipes at Adjust and other competitors later on in the blog: “Some MMPs have inherent trust issues. Other MMPs have fallen completely short when it comes to innovation and support. Others are aggressive on pricing, pushing upsells on every feature and making their customers extremely frustrated.”

From October: ‘Layoffs at AppLovin and Machine Zone, maker of Game of War and Mobile Strike‘.

As we reported on Monday, an estimated 120 staff from Adjust were let go last week in a move that fits into an overall drive to remove product teams across AppLovin. Both companies have still not acknowledged the layoffs publicly or responded to any requests for comment.

Adjust did, however, put out a blog referencing some changes to the organisation and confirming a new CEO, Andrey Kazakov. We have asked once again for comment and will update this article if we receive any response.
