Your games of the year: Infinity Nikki, Monument Valley 3, Sonic Rumble, Genshin Impact, more

Here’s another batch of mobilegamer.biz readers’ games of the year selections.

Have a peek at what leaders from Top App Games, Ustwo, My Games, Xsolla, Out Making Games and ByteBrew in the first round of selections

Artur Beresnev, Mamboo

Infinity Nikki has been released last December, but it remains the most technically impressive mobile game which extended what could be possible on iOS and Android. InFold proved that Unreal Engine 5 can work well on mobile devices thanks to their custom transparent fabric materials, layered physics simulation, GPU-based assets streaming. A risky path to bring so much technical effort into a dressing game, but it paid-off: over 85m downloads during the first year, $20-30m/month revenue.

Jude Ower, PlanetPlay

My favourite game is Monument Valley and has been for a long time – watching the game grow over time to this year’s Monument Valley 3 with deeper story lines, empathy and human connection has been a treat from a gameplay perspective. My main reason to play is to relax, especially when travelling. I also play with my 7-year-old son, who really enjoys taking turns with me on the puzzles or playing together as the big and small characters.

David Stelzer, Appcharge

My favourite games are Clash Royale and PUBG Mobile, and my guilty pleasure is Royal Match. But my 2025 GOTY is Sonic Rumble – pure fun and nostalgia for me.

Ben Cousens, ZBD

I’m all over the Steam Deck now and have been playing old school games like Dishonored and Fallout 3 – they remind me that strong narrative and simple mechanics can drive great gameplay without needing to break the bank in game development. I hope to see more of that emerge.

Andrew Wailes, PlaySafe ID

My personal game of the year has actually been Path Of Exile 2. I’m a huge fan of ARPGs and I’ve enjoyed the last league, and am really excited for the new one starting this month. I hope it lives up to expectations.

Adam Smart, AppsFlyer

My mobile GOTY has to go to Genshin Impact. Now it has successfully added UGC it’s made an already huge game infinitely bigger and for me its amazing to be able to play seamlessly across PC, PS5, through PS+ streaming on PS Portal, and iPad. Personally, I find there is nothing quite like getting lost for a hour or two in Fontaine.
