April’s top mobile game downloads worldwide

Here are the most-downloaded games worldwide from last month, according to Appmagic data.

There’s commentary below on which way the top twenty downloads are trending, and you can find January, February and March’s top downloads through the links for comparison.

Subway Surfers, Roblox and Candy Crush Saga maintain their positions as the top three most downloaded games globally for April, with only minor fluctuations compared to March’s figures.

But there’s movement below that dominant trio: Homa’s Attack Hole continues to gobble up the installs, and was up this month by over 2m downloads compared to March’s total. April’s 16.77m installs is its second-highest monthly total ever after posting 17.1m downloads in January 2023.

Hungry Studio’s Block Blast Adventure is also continuing to grow month-on-month, with April’s 15.49m installs its best ever monthly total.

Gametion’s steady performer Ludo King is down a little this month, and only just beat Scopely’s newbie Monopoly Go to sixth spot. The latter game was released on April 12, so would have been higher had it been released earlier in the month – make sure you read this breakdown of Monopoly Go’s design secrets for more.

SayGames must have hit the nitros on Race Master 3D UA last month. It’s been averaging around 8m installs per month since November 2022, but suddenly shot up to 13.78m in April. That’s its biggest month of installs since June 2022, and its fourth best month since launch.

Playrix’s Gardenscapes had a good April after hovering just outside the top ten for the last couple of months. 13.06m installs is its best performance since January 2021, but still pretty far off its best ever monthly download total of 33.86m, recorded in April 2020.

Supersonic’s Going Balls (12.5m) is down month-on-month by just over 3m downloads, coming off a best-ever performance in March. This one’s been firing again after a bumpy end of 2022, when it was up and down between 6-9m installs per month.

April’s top downloads 11-20:

11. Drawing Carnival (CrazyLabs): 12.47m
12. My11Circle (Games24x7): 12.08m
13. Real Truck Parking Games 3D (2D Entertainment): 11.85m
14. Royal Match (Dream Games): 11.7m
15. Honkai: Star Rail (Mihoyo): 11.54m
16. Indian Bikes Driving 3D (Rohit Gaming Studio): 10.87m
17. Duet Cats: Cute Popcat Music (Amanotes): 10.49m
18. My Talking Tom 2 (Outfit7): 10.46m
19. Temple Run 2 (Imangi): 10.33m
20. Free Fire (Garena International): 10.25m

Some interesting new entires here – most notably Mihoyo’s mighty Honkai: Star Rail, which was only released on April 26 but racked up 11.54m installs in just five days.

CrazyLabs’ Drawing Carnival is up from gathering 4m installs in March to over 12m in April, and My11Circle is an Android-only Indian fantasy football, cricket and kabaddi app (which may have somehow slipped through into the games category).

There’s also the sumptuous glamour of Android-only sim Real Truck Parking Games 3D, which registered under a million downloads in March but finds itself with nearly 12m installs in April. There’s very little info out there about its very low-key developer 2D Entertainment, but the studio does have a couple of other bus and bridge-building games out on Google Play, so there’s that.

Duet Cats is a new one in the top 20 too, a cutesy music-based high score game which scored 9.3m installs in March before hitting 10.49m last month. It’s the new game from Vietnamese Magic Tiles maker Amanotes.
