Capital Games and EA have confirmed that The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-Earth is launching worldwide on May 10. Players can pre-register now.
It’s the next game from the maker of Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes, which according to Appmagic has earned EA over $936m since it launched in November 2015. Galaxy of Heroes has been downloaded around 86m times to date.
Heroes of Middle-Earth is based on The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit novels – not the films – and is a turn-based squad battler much like Galaxy of Heroes.
EA and Capital promise story and PVP modes plus “new stories from the Tolkien universe” which also “expand it to create a more diverse and inclusive Middle-earth.”
The plot revolves around a new Ring of Power, and will include “beloved and classic characters” and stories that colour “between the lines” of Tolkien’s texts, says the announcement.
