Goat Simulator maker Coffee Stain to close its mobile studio

Coffee Stain is closing its mobile development arm in Malmö, Sweden, according to a LinkedIn post by company’s mobile VP Daniel Persson.

Coffee Stain Malmö is home to the Goat Simulator maker’s mobile development and publishing operations, and was formed in 2021. The studio’s website suggests it has 17 staff. We have requested comment and clarification from Coffee Stain on how many staff will be laid off as a result of the closure.

The Malmö office was responsible for bringing Goat Simulator to mobile in 2023, and also ran Song of Conquest and added Smash Hit creators Mediocre to the team.

Daniel Persson, mobile VP at Coffee Stain, said on LinkedIn: “Some personal news: Coffee Stain has decided to close our mobile development office in Malmö, and with that, my chapter leading this team comes to an end.”

“Building this office from the ground up has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. It started as an idea, that grew into an amazing team of talented people. I couldn’t be more proud of what we have accomplished together.”

He added: “To every single person who was part of this journey: Thank you. Your skill, dedication, and creativity made this place what it was. I wholeheartedly recommend each and every one of you. Any team lucky enough to bring you on board will be better for it.”

“If you’re looking for sharp, driven and extremely competent people please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m happy to make introductions.”
