Meta says its new Horizon Create app will enable players to create entire games from a prompt, then publish them straight to Facebook and Instagram.
The tech giant announced its new Create app and Studio toolset at Meta Connect this week, though there was no firm date on when they might arrive to the general public.
Horizon Create users will also be able to try out and remix other players’ creations while they wait for Meta’s Horizon Engine to build the game from their prompts, the firm said.
A companion Horizon Studio tool will allow players to do the same in a browser, using more granular game creation tools. Both the Create app and Studio tools are interoperable and allow users to instantly publish their games “across Facebook, Instagram and Horizon.”
“Someone scrolling through Instagram can tap a clip of your game and be in a multiplayer session within seconds, without needing to download an app or being redirected,” Meta said. “Your game lives natively in the feeds where people already discover content and connect with friends.”
More details on in-game monetisation are coming soon, Meta said, and early access is rolling out gradually.
Both the Create and Studio apps are in the hands of selected creators now. Creators will also be backed financially via the tech giant’s Meta Horizon Creator Fund.
