January’s top mobile game downloads

Here are the top mobile game downloads from last month, according to Appmagic data.

Appmagic’s estimates do not include numbers from China’s fractured Android market. There’s also commentary on January’s most notable trends from the top 20 and beyond below.

In between these monthly updates, you can also keep tabs on Appmagic’s top grossing and top downloads charts here.

Block Blast’s dominance is fun to watch – downloads dropped by over 10m month-on-month according to these estimates, and yet it’s still a couple of million ahead of its nearest contender. Hungry Studio’s puzzler dropped from December’s total of over 38m down to a little under 28m last month, a total that’s somewhere in the middle in terms of its recent monthly revenue totals.

Free Fire’s January total comes to just under 26m, its best monthly performance since July 2025, and was boosted by a collab with popular Japanese manga Jujutsu Kaisen.

After a wild summer, Roblox downloads are flattening out at around the 21-24m mark. Its January total of 22.6m is somewhere in the middle, and a little down on December as million of kids got back into their school routines last month.

Pizza Ready and Subway Surfers each have incredibly consistent downloads every month, though where Supercent’s management game is flat, Sybo’s runner is up a little on December’s total.

Vita Mahjong’s steady rise continues, with January 2025 another record month for installs. Meanwhile, fellow tile puzzler Tile Explorer’s rather spikier downloads graph sees it back up in the top ten again for January; last month’s 12.5m installs marks its second-best ever month after a huge spike back in July 2025.

Hitapps’ Solitaire Associations Journey is a fresh contender in the same kind of space, and it has posted downloads in the low teens for the third month running – a strong start for a game that only arrived in September last year.

Paper.io 2’s comeback continues with another monthly total of just over 10m, its fourth straight month of installs growth. And Gametion’s Ludo King appears to be a seasonal title – it performs well from March-September before seeing downloads dip from October-February. If previous years are anything to go by, it’ll dip again for February before rising into the top ten and staying there for the spring and summer.

January’s top mobile game downloads: 11-20

11. Heartopia (XD Network): 12.2m
12. Last War: Survival (Funfly): 11.9m
13. Arrows – Puzzle Escape (Miniclip): 11.7m
14. School Party Craft (Candy Room): 11.2m
15. My Talking Tom 2 (Outfit7): 10.6m
16. PUBG Mobile (Tencent): 10.5m
17. Township (Playrix): 10.1m
18. Royal Kingdom (Dream Games): 10m
19. Color Block: Combo Blast (Ivymobile): 9.4m
20. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang US (Moonton): 9.4m

XD Network’s Heartopia narrowly missed out on a top ten new entry last month. Given how ideal those Animal Crossing-like play patterns are for mobile, it’s a little surprising to see relatively few major contenders in this space. Revenue seems to be going ok too, with roughly $8.5m earned since launch.

Last War downloads are noticeably up – Funfly’s hit 4x strategy game was pulling in about 6m installs a month for a long time, but downloads started rising in October 2025 and have kept going ever since.

Miniclip has a new low-key hit with Arrows, which scores another month in the top 20, while December’s weird viral Minecraft-like hit School Party Craft slides down the charts five places for January.

Elsewhere in the top 20 there are three games rising quickly – Township (up 31 places month-on-month), Royal Kingdom (also up 31 places) and newbie Color Block (up a whopping 112 spots).

Outside the top 20, Gossip Harbor saw a big month-on-month leap in downloads, up 101 places to hit 8.9m installs and 24th place in January. Century Games’ Kingshot also saw a decent rise, up 25 places to 36th with 7.6m downloads last month.
