Six and a half years into development, Rainbow Six Mobile is launching worldwide

Ubisoft has said it is launching Rainbow Six Mobile worldwide soon, after ironing out some final bugs and making some final tweaks.

There’s no firm release date yet, but a post on X from the game’s official account says the dev team is close to submitting a worldwide launch build to Apple and Google.

Rainbow Six Mobile was first announced in April 2022. Ubisoft told us back then that the game had been in development for three years, meaning the French publisher has been working on the title for over six and a half years in total.

In the same article, the firm also told us that 11 different Ubisoft studios have worked on the game, plus mobile shooter specialist Tencent. “Rainbow Six Mobile is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with several Ubisoft studios including Winnipeg, Quebec, Halifax, Paris, Bucharest, Kyiv, Redlynx, Pune, Chengdu and Shanghai,” said Rainbow Six Mobile programmer Casey Hildebrand in April 2022.

“Over the course of the development process, Tencent has also been providing its expertise and counsel to our teams as part of our partnership to extend our brand’s reach to the significantly wider mobile audience.”

The game’s first closed beta took place in September 2022, and since then the game has been available in several different territories as part of its soft launch. It is currently available in Latin America, Canada, France and Poland as part of its soft launch.

“We’ve  officially  passed Phase 2, where we successfully tested player engagement and fine-tuned the game. We’re now heading into Phase 3; the final step before Rainbow Six Mobile goes global,” says the game’s X account.

Once the final tweaks are made in ‘Phase 3’ Ubisoft added that it will “submit the final build to Apple and Google to prepare for worldwide rollout.”
