Supercell London’s new GM is the former Everdale, Hay Day and Boom Beach game lead

Supercell London continues to take shape with the appointment of Lasse Seppänen as general manager.

Pocketgamer.biz broke the news of the appointment earlier today. Seppänen is a former game lead on Hay Day, Boom Beach and Everdale, and has also served as head of game production services and game resourcing at Supercell.

Seppänen is also an angel investor and was previously CEO and cofounder of PlayRaven, which was acquired by Rovio in 2018.

The news follows on from former Space Ape studio lead Johnathan Rowlands’ appointment as Squad Busters GM, suggesting Supercell London will play a big role in that game’s future.

From last week: ‘RIP Space Ape: 70 join Supercell London, 30 laid off, remaining titles to spin out’.

We also reported last week on how exactly Supercell is carving up what was Space Ape. Around 70 staff have been offered new roles at Supercell London, we’re told, while around a dozen are moving to new startup Offroad Games, the new home of Space Ape titles Chrome Valley Customs and Fastlane.

The Transformers: Earth Wars team, meanwhile, have a new home at Chinese publisher Yodo1. Around 30 Space Ape staff were laid off or did not accept the new roles they were offered.

Last week Supercell also teased new title Boat Game, which some influencers have said is in alpha testing this week.
