A raft of top mobile game companies are donating all UK revenue made in selected games to charity Special Effect today.
Around 30 games from Supercell, Rovio, Sybo, First Touch Games, Playdemic, Miniclip, Outplay, MAG Interactive, Exient, New Star Games, Fingersoft and Supersolid are part of the One Special Day initiative today, October 3.
Special Effect’s annual fundraising activities also include a cross-London walk that stretches from the Olympic Park to Wembley Stadium. Over 350 walkers have signed up for the event today.
One Special Day is the biggest day in UK charity Special Effect’s calendar. Its team of therapists helps thousands of disabled people play games more easily. Today’s activity also includes a Steam Sale including over 90 titles and a bundle of PC games from Green Man Gaming. The charity is hoping to raise in excess of £500k through this ninth edition of their flagship campaign.
“The support the event receives from the games industry is absolutely vital in making sure we can continue to reach every disabled person that needs our help,” said founder and CEO of SpecialEffect Dr Mick Donegan.
“Without One Special Day we simply couldn’t bring a better quality of life to so many people across the world, and we’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in the event – industry, gamers and donors.”
