Supercell’s debut game Hay Day is getting (another) spin off: it’s called Hay Day Match, and it’s developed by UK studio Playabit.
According to the game’s official website, Hay Day Match will be available to download later this month in three markets: India, Indonesia and the Philippines.
[Update] A Supercell spokesperson has been in touch to add: “This is an early access phase of the game, which is time-limited and will be available for download in India, Indonesia and the Philippines. The goal is to establish an early pulse check with Hay Day players.”
Playabit was formed in 2021 with investment from Wildlife Studios by Tugrul Atak, Ayhan Sahin and Ant Sengelli. All of the founders played major roles in the development of hit Peak games Toy Blast and Toon Blast.
According to the Playabit website, as of 2024 the studio is now independent – presumably with the help of new partner Supercell – and is based in London.
Playabit’s Companies House listing says the company’s UK incarnation was incorporated in November 2024 and is co-owned by CEO Ayhan Sahin and CTO Kaan Yamanyar, another former Peak staffer.
The Hay Day Match blurb reads: “Players can expect a relaxing yet rewarding puzzle adventure, where you swipe colors, solve fun challenges, and help Mavis on her journey while uncovering the secrets of the countryside.”
Hay Day Match is the second Hay Day spin-off to emerge since the farming game first launched in 2013. Supercell soft launched blast puzzler Hay Day Pop in March 2020, but the game was killed in January 2021.
It’s the second time Supercell has with a UK studio to make a spin off of one of its legacy titles. Space Ape’s Boom Beach: Frontlines was soft launched in October 2021, but failed to get traction and was cancelled in November 2022.
