Supercell teases new title Boat Game, signs up alpha testers

Supercell has apparently revealed its next title, Boat Game.

Cryptic social media posts and a YouTube video published this morning lead to a sign-up page and questionnaire for potential alpha testers. “Boat operators needed”, says a post from the game’s Bluesky account.

The few snippets of gameplay shown in the teaser video below show loadout and character customisation screens, skill trees, nautical combat and on-foot third person shooting.

[Update 27/02/25: Supercell has been working with influencers to tease out more details on the game. Below you can see around 15 minutes of Boat Game’s onboarding and some general gameplay. According to some Supercell creators, Alpha testing starts next week.

The footage suggests Boat Game is a third-person looter-shooter type game with MMO elements, where players explore islands and complete events and quests to gather loot. Players can take each other out and steal each others’ loot. There also appears to be a morals system, where other players are flagged as having ‘gone bad’. The goal appears to be to level up to eventually beat the area’s boss. More below:]

It’s the latest snippet of news from Supercell in what has already been an eventful week.

On Monday, we revealed details of Space Ape’s transition into Supercell London. It means around 70 staff are moving to the new outfit, with around 30 layoffs and new homes for Chrome Valley Customs, Fastlane and Transformers: Earth Wars.

And this morning, we reported that Squad Busters has a new general manager, 10 year Space Ape veteran Johnathan Rowlands. He joins to lead the charge on Supercell’s latest launch as its London office takes shape.

During a recent earnings Q&A, Supercell CEO Ilkka Paananen confirmed that the Finnish firm had 10 games in development, and recently added five new game teams to its ranks through its incubator program, Spark.
