That long-rumoured Horizon MMO is a mobile game

NCsoft is developing that long-rumoured Horizon MMO, and it’s primarily a mobile game.

Announced at Korea’s G-Star event this morning, there’s no release date yet. The gameplay in the announcement video is tagged as ‘pre-alpha’ footage, so it seems to be some way off.

The game is also coming to PC via NCsoft’s ‘Purple’ platform. It does not appear to be coming to any PlayStation platforms at this stage.

Guerrilla studio director Jan-Bart van Beek says in the reveal video above that the MMO spin-off was his idea, and one that has been built by NCsoft specifically for mobile.

Horizon is one of PlayStation’s top franchises, but similar to how Destiny: Rising is effectively a licensed game developed by NetEase, NCsoft appears to be handling the vast majority of development on the title.

NCsoft said it will be revealing more information about the game soon.

The game’s official blurb reads: “Set in the lands of the machine hunters known as the Deadlands, the game builds on Horizon’s signature hunting-action gameplay while introducing advanced MMORPG systems, featuring deeply customizable combat and extensive player freedom. The title aims to deliver a distinct Horizon experience to players around the world.”
