Netflix has signed Ustwo Games’ next title, Desta: The Memories Between, which is coming to mobile via the streaming service this year. PC and console releases will follow at a later stage.
The London studio revealed the new title during Summer Game Fest today. It’s a strategic, turn-based action title with narrative elements, set within the dreams of lead character Desta. Players will take on enemies and bosses in the game by taking turns to throw balls of energy around.

Influences include Hades, Into the Breach and Inception, says Ustwo Games. “All the characters you meet in the game helped Desta become who they are – there’s a lot about loss and finding yourself, which are themes that I’m sure we can all relate to,” said Ustwo Games chief creative officer Danny Gray. “We hope players enjoy exploring Desta’s dream worlds, and the reawakening that follows.”

It’s a big new signing for Netflix as it continues to make its mark in the mobile games business. As we reported previously, the streaming giant has been busily assembling a high profile leadership team over the course of the last year.
Desta: The Memories Between is not the only new title coming from Ustwo Games. We revealed a few details about the next Monument Valley game back in March, which is being directed by former Subway Surfers lead Jennifer Estaris.
