Capital Games’ The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth set to soft launch this summer

EA has announced that Capital Games, the team behind Star Wars: Galaxy Of Heroes, is now making a Lord of the Rings game subtitled Heroes of Middle-earth.

It’s expected to enter soft launch – or “limited regional beta testing” – this summer, says EA. It sounds similar to Galaxy of Heroes in that it’s a “collectible role-playing game” described as “a strategic, social-competitive experience”.

It is not linked to the films, the announcement suggests, but instead “solely inspired by Middle-earth as described in the literary works of J.R.R. Tolkien,” says chief brand and licensing officer for Middle-earth Enterprises Fredrica Drotos.

The press release also promises that The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth will feature “immersive storytelling, turn-based combat, deep collection systems and a wide roster of characters from across the vast universe of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.”

EA released no other press materials around the game, only the piece of art you see above. We’ll check in with EA to see if there’s more.
