Covet Fashion, Design Home veterans form Burlingame, seal Scopely deal

Burlingame Studios is the new home of the team behind Covet Fashion and Design Home – and it just struck a deal with Scopely.

Scopely is investing $20m in the team of co-founders Chris McGill, Jose Avila, Barlow Gilmore, Brandon Jones and Scott Cuthbertson, who have worked together for years, starting at CrowdStar, which was acquired by Glu, which was then acquired by EA.

In that time the team created and launched hit games Covet Fashion and Design Home. As Burlingame Studios, the team is all about “Blurring the lines between app and game.”

Scopely only just inked a deal for Titan Brawl maker Omnidrone, the 120-strong team in Barcelona, and has made multiple investments all over the industry lately, including blockchain firms Polygon and IndiGG, plus Solitaire TriPeaks and Bingo Bash maker GSN Games.
