Satirical physics puzzler Devolver Tumble Time is set to launch in January, with pre-reg open on Google Play today.
It’s being made by cult indie creator Nopopo, and features characters from Devolver’s hit games including Hotline Miami and Serious Sam. It’s all quite meta – the game also pokes fun at mobile monetisation practices and “strategic brand integrations”.
Devolver also released a new trailer:
The typically manic press release announcing the release window concludes: “With over 14 different types of in-game currency, fancy ads, endless upgrade tiers, super special offers, and more besides, you’ll soon learn that with Devolver Tumble Time the only thing that isn’t free is your life.“
The game will be free to play, unlike most of Devolver’s other mobile titles. In the past it has published premium titles including The Swords of Ditto, Minit, My Friend Pedro, Gris, Downwell, Spaceplan and multiple Reigns games. It also has a big presence on Apple Arcade, with eight titles currently live on Apple’s gaming subscription service, and several more titles on Netflix.
