EA has combined its mobile and ‘HD’ teams working on EA FC, Madden and the Sims as well as sunsetting Kim Kardashian Hollywood, Lord of the Rings, Tap Sports Baseball and F1 Mobile in recent weeks.
EA president of entertainment and technology Laura Miele confirmed the strategy shift after EA announced earlier this week that it would be cutting 5% of its workforce, roughly 650-700 staff.
“Mobile continues to be the largest gaming platform and we see strong growth opportunities for EA, and the teams are more focused with a clearer strategy and priorities than ever before,” Miele said.
“Over the past six months, we have brought together the mobile and HD franchise teams under singular leadership across EA Sports FC, Madden NFL, and The Sims. The next step is setting up our standalone mobile portfolio for growth.”

“Over the past few weeks, we have announced we are sunsetting Kim Kardashian Hollywood, Lord of the Rings, Tap Sports Baseball, and F1 Mobile. These games have entertained many people over the years, and it’s the right time to focus our time on the remaining games in our portfolio which we believe can grow.”
EA bought Glu for $2.1bn in 2021, but has now cancelled two of its biggest titles, Kim Kardashian Hollywood and Tap Sports Baseball. Just over a year ago, EA closed Apex Legends Mobile, cancelled Battlefield Mobile and shut down its developer Industrial Toys.
We later discussed the demise of Battlefield Mobile and Industrial Toys with founder Alex Seropian.
