Monopoly Go has now passed $3bn in revenue, IP owner Hasbro said in its latest financial results.
Scopely announced back in March that Monopoly Go had generated $2bn, and back in November 2023, the firm said its hit game had earned $1bn just seven months after launch.
“Momentum on Monopoly Go from our partners at Scopely continued into Q2…driving healthy upside to both revenue and operating profit,” said Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks in the earnings call.
“Since launch, the game has grossed over $3 billion in revenue, making Hasbro the top licensor of video games for the past year, according to Aldora.”

Hasbro EVP and CFO Gina Goetter added later in the call that the company expects to earn around $105m in licensing fees from Scopely’s hit game for the full year. It had earned $45m from the game in the first half of 2024.
Monopoly Go was described as the biggest driver in a 20% rise in Hasbro’s Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming segment. Baldur’s Gate 3 and an “international publishing deal” also boosted its gaming division’s earnings, and as a result there was plenty of talk around Hasbro’s growth in digital and games.
Hasbro also raised its full-year earnings forecast off the back of that 20% rise in its gaming division, driven mostly by Monopoly Go. It did however warn that looking at Sensor Tower data, the last few months of Monopoly Go earnings were “a little bit bumpy”, which meant that its outlook should be considered a cautious one.

CEO Chris Cocks added that Hasbro is still learning about the seasonality of Monopoly Go’s earnings, and that it is “erring on the side of caution” with its forecasts.
“Where I do think we have some bullishness is on the mid and long term for the game,” he said. “When you look at games that reach this hyper scale like Monopoly Go has, and you look at the Sensor Tower data from North America and Europe, 10 of the 20 best performing games have been out for five or more years.”
“So this is a game that’s going to be a really strong and positive annuity for us for a long time to come.”

At GDC 2024, Scopely product VP and Monopoly Go GM Massimo Maietti revealed the “embarrassing mistake” that birthed Monopoly Go, shortly after Scopely announced the game had passed $2bn.
In August 2023, we also spoke to Maietti about the three years of Monopoly Go development that followed a big pivot away from its original form, a Clash Royale-like PvP game.
