No Man’s Sky is coming to iPhone and iPad on October 28

Hello Games is bringing No Man’s Sky to iPhone and iPad on October 28.

The studio describes the mobile version as a side project it has worked on for nearly three years.  The iOS version supports touch controls, controllers and mouse and keyboard, and can be cast to a TV. No Man’s Sky will be free to try at launch, with a one-time full game unlock price of $19.99. It’s open for pre-order now.

Studio founder Sean Murray said in a blog post that the iOS version isn’t a cut-down edition of the game. Multiplayer and planetary settlements are the only major features missing.

The game includes 10 years of updates, including the recent Cosmos update, which lets players own and manage a space station. Hello Games also highlighted its use of MetalFX and Apple’s M-series chips.

Murray compared the release to No Man’s Sky’s original Switch launch. In the same post, he said the studio listened to player feedback and built on that version, including with an expanded Switch 2 release, and that Hello Games will support iOS in a similar way based on feedback and player numbers.

Apple announced at its 2022 WWDC keynote that No Man’s Sky would come to Mac and iPad. The Mac version launched in June 2023, but the iPad version still hadn’t materialised until now.

The App Store listing says it requires iOS or iPadOS 26 or later and a device with an A12 Bionic chip or newer. It’ll take up around 3.8GB.

The iOS release joins PC, VR and nearly every modern console, and Hello Games continues to release free updates.
