Tencent could acquire Playtika-owned SuperPlay for up to $1.5bn, says report

Tencent is in talks to acquire Playtika’s SuperPlay studio in a deal thought to be worth up to $1.5bn.

As reported by Calcalistech, Playtika is looking to divest SuperPlay to Tencent as the developer’s “rapid success has become a financial burden for its parent company”.

Playtika acquired Dice Dreams developer SuperPlay for an initial $700m back in 2024. At the time, it employed around 240 staff and was founded by former Playtika employees Gilad Almog and Eyal Netzer, alongside former TabTale and Rovio designer Elad Drory.

The deal also included a $1.25bn payout if the team met performance targets between 2025 and 2027.

It’s thought that this success, tied to the aforementioned performance targets, is behind Playtika’s hopes of divestiture, as Playtika is required to reassess the company’s performance each year to calculate payments to SuperPlay’s founders.

According to Calcalistech, SuperPlay generated $573m in revenue in 2025, which is thought to be 67% above the “baseline target used to calculate the earnout”. Tencent will reportedly not be obligated to maintain these earnouts.

According to AppMagic estimates SuperPlay’s three games – Domino Dreams, Dice Dreams, and Disney Solitaire – have generated almost $1bn in revenue since 2019. It’s the latter that’s earned the highest revenue in the last 30 days, bringing in around $20m, with Dice Dreams and Domino Dreams generating $9.8m and $6m, respectively.

In February, we learned that Playtika is now earning around $1bn per year in direct-to-consumer revenue, and 74% of its business is casual games, thanks to SuperPlay.
