2025’s most downloaded mobile game Block Blast is coming to Apple Arcade next month.
Block Blast+ launches ad-free and without in-app purchases on Apple’s $6.99-a-month gaming subscription service on September 3.
Hungry Studio’s Tetris-like grid-clearing puzzler racked up a reported 368m downloads last year according to AppMagic estimates, comfortably ahead of Roblox’s estimated 295m. It has continued to top monthly download charts into 2026, too, with lifetime installs estimated to be anywhere from 725m to 868m.
Even outside of Arcade, Block Blast is a free, ad-supported game with negligible IAP revenue, and it built its huge download base largely across Indonesia, the US, Vietnam, Brazil and India.
Also joining Arcade on September 3 is Art of Fauna: Cozy Puzzles+, Klemens Strasser’s jigsaw-style nature game and winner of a 2025 App Store Award for Cultural Impact, and NFL Retro Bowl ’27, Coloring Games for Families+ and Let’s Play Oink Games+. All four games being added to the service are pre-existing free to play games that will debut on Apple Arcade with their ads and IAPs removed.
Back in February, Bloomberg reported that Tencent was interested in buying a small stake in Block Blast maker Hungry Studio.
Hong Kong-based Hungry Studio said recently that Block Blast hit 70m daily average users and 300m monthly average users. That’s up from 40m DAU and 160m MAU reported by the company in December 2024.
