A new Scopely-made Marvel game known as Project Comet appears to have leaked.
What appears to be a trailer initially appeared on Chinese video platform Bilibili on October 2. Both TheGamer and Insider Gaming picked up the news earlier this week, and suggested the video has been circulating on TikTok for around a month, although neither Scopely nor Marvel has formally announced the game.
The Twitter/X user who helped share the trailer believes Project Comet is a Genshin Impact-like open-world action RPG with crossplay between its mobile and PC versions. The footage shows co-op play in teams of four, with heroes including Wolverine, Doctor Strange, Black Widow, War Machine and Spider-Man.
We have asked Scopely for comment and clarification on the leaks and will update this story if they respond.
Scopely is hiring for several projects currently, and some of the roles mention a “cross-platform Strategy/MMO title”. One listing, for a director of performance marketing, is for a role on “a new, unannounced ARPG mobile title based on a major IP”. It asks for “preferred experience working with Chinese gaming studios” and also lists “experience in Midcore, RPG, Strategy 4x mobile games” as a bonus.
Scopely has an existing relationship with Marvel, having operated squad RPG Marvel Strike Force since 2017. AppMagic estimates suggest Scopely has earned nearly $830m in IAP revenue from the game since launch, though that figure does not include webshop revenue.
Scopely is also preparing to launch its next wrestling game, WWE Generations. You can read more in our soft launch games update.
