Supercell hit by cyberattack, but says no player data was affected

Supercell has confirmed that an unauthorised party has accessed a platform Supercell used to host company meetings and presentations.

In an announcement on October 21, the Clash of Clans developer said it was targeted by multiple cyberattacks last week, one of which caused the incident. Based on its investigations so far, Supercell believes no player data was affected.

It says it blocked further access, took the service offline and began investigating the platform and its security experts. It has since filed a police report, submitted a notification under the EU Cyber Resilience Act, and notified the Data Protection Ombudsman, but said that because the investigation is ongoing, it cannot share further details at this time.

The videos include current and former employees, as well as some guests and partners who took part in internal events. They may contain people’s names, images and voices, and the names and email addresses of the platform’s users were also accessed.

Supercell warns the material could be used for targeted phishing, impersonation and other scams. It urged people to be cautious with unexpected messages, calls or video calls claiming to come from Supercell, especially if they ask for money, passwords, access or files.

Anyone who spoke or presented at a recorded event, whether at Supercell or hosted by it, is “very likely” affected, the company said. People who have worked with Supercell can email incidents-info@supercell.com for more information.
