Supercell reveals IP mash-up Squad Busters

Supercell has revealed Squad Busters, a hero mash-up containing characters from Hay Day, Boom Beach, both Clash games and Brawl Stars.

A closed, Android-only beta test will take place in Canada between February 6-16th.

In the brief snippet of gameplay Supercell has posted (below), Squad Busters appears to be a character-collecting top-down adventure. Supercell has not released any further information about the game apart from a short statement on the game’s official site, which reads:

“Currently we are in the early stage of game development. Between Feb 6th-16th 2023, we will have a closed beta test in Canada with limited participants. The test is mainly designed to verify gameplay and all players’ progression will be reset. Stay connected and we will notify you with future updates! (Canada with limited participants on Android devices only)”

Supercell announced last week that it has transferred ownership of its village-builder Everdale to partner studio Metacore. Everdale was closed by Supercell last year, but could now return in a different form under the guidance of the Merge Mansion maker. It also cancelled a second game last year, puzzler Clash Quest. Its servers closed in September 2022.

The Finnish giant has not released a game worldwide since the launch of Brawl Stars over four years ago. It recently removed loot boxes from that game, having accrued an estimated $1.25bn in revenue and 355m downloads as of December 2022.

Supercell was also the eighth top grossing mobile game publisher of 2022, according to our data.
