More mobilegamer.biz readers reveal their games of the year here – see leaders from Xsolla, My Games, FunPlus, Kwalee and plenty more do the same in parts one and two of this week’s articles.
Sabrina Carmona, King’s Farm Heroes Saga VP
My favourite mobile game of 2024 is Terra Tactics. It stood out for its inclusivity, creating a vibrant world where diverse characters and stories take centre stage. The gameplay felt innovative, but what truly resonated was its ability to foster a sense of connection and representation for all players, proving that mobile games can be both engaging and meaningful.

I’ve played a plethora of cool new games this year, but my favorite mobile game is Royal Kingdom by Dream Games. While it shares some similarities with their hit game Royal Match, like the addictive match-3 mechanics and polished visuals, Royal Kingdom takes things further with its charming kingdom-building element and deeper storyline. The art style is terrific, the gameplay dynamics are outstanding, and the attitude to the narrative is just wow; the in-game kingdom coming to life adds a sense of personal progress beyond just puzzles. Thank you, Dream Games, for finding the perfect balance of relaxation and creativity, keeping me hooked without feeling repetitive!

It’s always hard to give an opinion on Game of the Year because there are so many factors that go into it. However, my mobile game of the year is Pokemon TCG Pocket. Poor Niantic and Pokemon Go, as the true expression of the core trading card experience, is finally out on mobile with Pokemon TCG. It’s a marketer’s dream in that it sells itself because there hasn’t been something like it in the market. Just wait for the person in the giant Pikachu suit opening card packs in UA ads. It will happen.
On the PC console side, Black Myth Wukong represents the start of China’s entry into PC/Console game making bringing new challenges to Western game devs. Netease and Marvel Rivals is showing early signs of making this a new trend!

Danny Moy, SciPlay chief strategy officer
My game of the year is Royal Match from Dream Games. I still very much enjoy the graphics, animations and haptics, the different streak event challenges and I like that I can play the levels in 3-5 minute bursts.

Tommi Koirikivi, Theymes CEO and cofounder
My game of the year is definitely Balatro. I was excited to try it on desktop when it launched, and when the mobile version came out, I just love being able to take it anywhere. It’s the perfect game to spend a minute or two… Or hours. Honestly, they should have started with mobile. What I really love is how easy it is to jump back in and pick up right where I left off. Would love to see multiplayer aspects implemented in the future.

Evelin Herrera, Appvertiser head of marketing
My GOTY is Landlord Tycoon – I want to be a millionaire, and it’s just fun to connect with that feeling of growing your wealth! I can’t get over thinking about business, but I love to keep doing it by playing and having an in-game alter ego!

Tom Storr, The Experimentation Group cofounder
The WereCleaner is so much fun. It’s easy to get into, and while eating your co-workers is great for a bit, the stress of getting your cleaning done while avoiding mass murder builds fast. The level and game design are top notch, I loved it.
Jens Lauritzson, Flexion CEO
Royal Kingdom is a better game than Royal Match. More strategic and has a better storyline which means that it is likely to do very well in 2025.
