Supercell reboots its lowkey monster hunting game Mo.co with seasons and (free) gacha pulls

Supercell’s monster hunting game Mo.co is effectively being relaunched tomorrow with a new monthly season pass structure and (free) gacha pulls.

Appmagic estimates suggest that the game, whose phased, invite-only rollout began in March 2025, has earned just under $4.7m in IAP revenue from 8.5m downloads to date. Top markets by revenue are the US (26% of lifetime IAPs), Germany (9%), France (8%), South Korea (5%) and Italy (4%).

The game’s developers had been teasing a ‘Neo Mo.co’ reboot on social media and Discord for months, and revealed the changes to the game in a YouTube video and blog yesterday.

Alongside new weapons and various gameplay and meta tweaks, the relaunched Mo.co will have new season pass featuring ‘weapon sprints’, through which players can earn further in-game rewards. The new gacha pulls are called Perks, and can also be earned on weapon sprints.

Community manager Joao Freitas later clarified on X that players can’t buy Perks with money, and that “there are no plans to monetize them”. He also re-iterated that Mo.co continues to only be monetised through cosmetics.

Seasons are a month long, and also feature weekly contracts, expeditions and weapon dojos. There’s also a new mode called ‘score hunt’ and another ‘Elite hunter path’ rewards system for the most hardcore players.

Speaking at the end of the reboot video, Supercell’s Freitas added: “It’s been a long ride from launch to the revamp to now. It’s a big update with lots of new features, some you’ll love, some we’ll keep improving.”

“We’ll be testing new content, so your feedback really matters. Hit us up on socials, Discord, the in-game survey. Let’s build this game together, and to everyone who stuck with us, thank you, even through the quiet times and bots…”

“We know the wait has been long, but we hope it’s worth it. And this is just the beginning. There’s a lot more coming in the next updates.”

After Supercell announced it was killing Squad Busters in October last year, Mo.co players started to speculate that the monster hunting game was next on the chopping block, as it has earned relatively little for a Supercell game.

Supercell later insisted the game wasn’t being killed, but did say it would be rebooting it.
