Marvel Snap maker Second Dinner has cut a “relatively small number” of staff in the last week, we’re told.
We also understand that work continues on Second Dinner’s new, as-yet unannounced game, which appears to be another mobile free to play title.
Second Dinner founder Ben Brode also confirmed the news on the Marvel Snap Discord: “These decisions were painful to make and say nothing about the quality of the people leaving,” he said. “Across the board, they’re talented, wonderful people.”
He later added: “For those of you concerned about Snap, we’re still here, still building, still committed to this game and to you. The roadmap we shared in March remains the same. This is us making hard decisions to make sure we can keep going, not a sign that we’re winding down.”
As we’ve reported previously, work on the studio’s second game began back in 2023. In January 2024, Second Dinner raised $100m from Griffin Gaming Partners to “develop and commercialise new titles, incubate original IP, write better press releases, and ensure that Marvel Snap continues to grow globally.”
There has been a little turbulence since then – the Marvel Snap team had to find a new publisher after its previous label, Nuverse, was caught up in the US TikTok ban of January 2025.
Second Dinner later teamed up with Skystone Games to self-publish Marvel Snap.
