New Sensor Tower data suggests that TikTok owner ByteDance is a bigger player in mobile than you might think, with $1bn in revenue from 139m downloads in the last year.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is the company’s top game on revenues and downloads, with 32% of that $1bn attributed to the League of Legends-style MOBA. Girls Chronicle: Idle Heroine “ranks closely behind” Bang Bang and is the second biggest earner, says Sensor Tower, with Mobile Legends: Adventure in third.
On downloads, Bang Bang is the clear leader with 78m in the last year, 56% of all ByteDance installs. Ragnarok X: Next Generation is second, and Sweet Crossing: Snake.io is third.
34% of the £1bn spend was in Japan, with China and US second and third in the market split. The success of Girls Chronicle: Idle Heroine in Japan is a big factor in that nation leading the way here.
The market split on downloads sees Indonesia top, with 25% of the company’s total mobile game installs. China and the Philippines were second and third markets in terms of downloads.
