Joshua Lu is now an investing partner at a16z’s Games Fund One. Lu’s career has taken in senior roles at Playdom, Disney, Scopely, Zynga, Blizzard and most recently Meta, where he was Horizon’s director of product management. Lu joins former Supercell marketing boss and fellow recent recruit Doug McCracken on the growing Games Fund One team.
Scopely games president Spencer Tucker has joined Yuga Labs as its first chief gaming officer. Tucker has also previously served as SVP of product, monetization and analytics at Scopely, SVP of product at Gree and SVP of studio at Glu.
More folks have joined TikTok’s dedicated games team this week. Alice Tam is now gaming partnership manager at the social platform, and Arthur Lukasevics is central Europe’s head of gaming. Both step up from roles elsewhere at the firm.
Former EA and Super Evil Megacorp exec Evan Denbaum has joined Disney’s growing ‘next generation storytelling’ team as head of platform strategy & fandom. He joins ex-Apple Arcade creative director Mark Bozon at Disney’s interactive experiences division, who moved from Apple to Disney in June.
As ever, there are a whole load of newbies at King. Harvey Parker is senior director of art for Candy Crush Saga, taking up the role after almost three years as head of art at The Multiplayer Group. Parker has previously held similar roles at Nordeus and Mediatonic.
Marina Barba Ruiz is now junior level designer, joining from Evas where she was 3D artist instructor. Felicity Gracie-Herst has started as lead tech producer, moving from a senior producer role at Square Enix London Mobile. Former Rockstar localisation manager and producer Elisa Olmedo is now associate production director, joining from 31st Union, where she was lead producer.
Hwa-Shih Lee is now King’s director of business marketing, moving over from Palisades Media Group, and Tiffany Fisher is the new recruitment operations project manager, joining from Virgin Media. Igor Nesmelov has also taken up a role as senior game designer, moving over from Socialpoint.
Over at Space Ape, Nikhil Suresh has stepped up to become game lead and product manager, having previously served as lead software engineer at the Beatstar maker.
There are two new recruits at FunPlus Barcelona, Victoria Batz and Moritz Angenendt. Batz joins as office manager from Outfit7, where she held a similar role, and Angenendt is the new community manager.
Ian Moroney is now lead devops engineer at First Light Games, and Zynga has a new head of global DE&I, talent and social impact, Mary Plaisted.
At Kwalee, Pia G is now talent resources specialist, Nikhil Misquith is a junior QA tester, Piyush Kumar has joined as junior 3D artist and Manisha Thangavel is now junior server programmer.
